This Week at The Place
We invite you to join us this Sabbath at The Place as we come together to worship and praise. This week Pastor Simon will continue his series "Living Dangerously" with a sermon titled "The War Within" which will go over Romans 7:14-25.
We look forward to having Randall Goulard lead us in praise and worship this week as well as special music by Steve Adetumbi. We will also be blessed by the kids from children's church as they sing a special song in preparation for VBS.
We invite you to attend one of our many Sabbath school classes. You may choose from cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, youth, young adult, or adult class...you are sure to be blessed.
There will be Children's Church this week in the Fellowship Hall. This month's leaders are Sherry Jackson and Jona Cooke. ALL children are invited to attend the morning of fun beginning at 11:30 a.m.
We also invite you to our prayer time this Sabbath at 10:00 a.m. Come and pray over our service or be prayed for individually by our prayer team.

Ahoy Matey! (VBS)
Our High Seas Expedition sets sail THIS Monday July 26 and we will end our expedition on Friday July 30. We will board our expedition at 6:00pm at Conejo Adventist Elementary School at 1250 Academy Dr Newbury Park CA. We will end at 8:00pm. Hope to see you there! Pirate Jona Cook (in non-Pirate language...all kids are invited to Vacation Bible School NEXT week! Sign up on Sabbath to reserve your place aboard the ship.)
Adventurers Meeting & Potluck Luncheon-This Sabbath
Parents, are your children between 5-8 years old? If so, plan to attend the Adventurer Club organizational meeing THIS Sabbath, July 24, after church. There will be a potluck in the Fellowship Hall. The Club will provide hot dogs and beverages. Please bring a side dish, dessert, and all your questions. We will discuss programs, schedules, uniforms, and more.

Community Outreach-This Sabbath
Just a reminder about our service project scheduled for this Sabbath afternoon, July 24th, to visit to University Village Nursing Home on Avenida de los Arboles in Thousand Oaks. We will be there from 1:45 - 3:30PM and will follow the same program as our previous times there. We will have a musical program and prepare flowers that we can give to residents while visiting with them. We'd love to have some kids who would like to participate in the program by playing an instrument or performing in some way. Please contact Reiner Roeske for more details.

Women's Ministry
We are very happy to announce that our NEW Women's Ministry has begun! We hope that this will enourage ALL women to join us for any and all activities as we grow together in Christ. This is the women's ministry calendar:
August 9th - NEXT BIBLE STUDY @ 7 p.m. @ The Place. Please meet us for tea, snacks, and a night of exploring chapter 3 of Captivating by John & Stasi Eldridge. We will meet bi-monthly on the 2nd & 4th Monday nights of every month.

July 29th.: Ladies Game Night is cancelled this month due to VBS.
Ladies Spa Day
It's back!!! Our once popular and eagerly sought after event of the year for ladies is in the planning stages!! There will be a Ladies Spa Day on Sunday, August 15th at Annette Siver's home. Annette has graciously offered her home so that ladies may lounge by the pool, have lunch, and a treatment of their choice. Honduras Orphanage Needs List
Randall Goulard had the opportunity to visit the orphanage in Honduras that many volunteers will be visiting in a few weeks as part of The Place mission trip. Some needs that the school/orphanage in Honduras needs are:
1: Baby clothes for toddlers (size 3, 4, 5).
2. Any toiletries that can be used for babies.
3. Toys specific for boys and girls (I.e. matchbox cars or princess type stuff).
4. Bible activity books or materials for the school.
If you should have any of these items, please consider donating them for our mission trip. Bring them to The Place THIS Sabbath. THANKS!
Mission Trip Fundraiser
If you've been saving your recycling to help us raise money for the mission trip to Honduras, thank you!
We leave in just one month so PLEASE bring your recyclables to church so we can take them off your hands and return for cash!!

Fellowship Luncheon
Our next fellowship luncheon is scheduled for NEXT Sabbath, July 31st. This month's theme is "breakfast". We hope that you will join us and bring a tasty breakfast item to share.
NPAA Registration
It's that time of the year again! Newbury Park Adventist Academy is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. Registration will be August 11 from 3-7 p.m. at NPAA. We continue in our goal to make it possible for any child who wants a Christian education to be able to attend the Academy. We will work with each individual student to overcome financial concerns. We look forward to seeing you at registration!

Yes, another church member is in desperate need of a vehicle. If you have one he could borrow for a while or make payments on to you, please let Pastor Simon know.
Financial Update for June
Thanks for your continued faithfulness in giving. Please remember our local church budget (that means money to run The Place!), particularly as we are in the midst of our search for a new church facility. In June, we received $11,453 in giving to The Place...for a total of $65,880 in 2010 so far. This puts us $35,000 BEHIND our actual expenses so far in 2010.
We also received $26,061 in tithe in June (all of which goes to the So. Cal. Conf. and is not for our use at The Place) for a total of $104,583 for 2010.

Fridays from 1-3 p.m. we are playing tennis @ Borchard Park in Newbury Park. This is a PERFECT opportunity for you to invite a friend who is not connected to the church. If you are interested but have transportation issues, please let Pastor Steve know.

Sign Up At The Place for our young adult camping trip to Yosemite the third weekend in September. We can do whatever we want...hike up to half dome, Yosemite or Vernal Falls and have all around good times. SIGN UP at The Place, we're asking for a committment of $20 to pay for the campsites/food/etc.
SAT AFTERNOON @ THE GETTY VILLA
We've done the Getty now it's time for it's predecessor, come with us Sat. afternoon Aug. 21 to the ORIGINAL Getty Villa in Malibu. We'll leave right after church.
VOLLEYBALL
Next volleyball night is Sat. night August 14. This is the best way to have some fun and meet new people. ANYONE CAN PLAY, don't feel like you're not qualified, we take all kinds! 7:30 pm at the Newbury Park Academy Gym.

If you like volleyball then come play EVERY TUES NIGHT. We'll be there from 5:30 - 8:00 pm so when you get off work come get some exercise. (Borchard Road, Newbury Park). There's been a good group of people every week @ Dos Vientos Community Park so come play.
