This Week at The Place
We invite you to join us this Sabbath at The Place as we come together to worship and praise. This week Randall Goulard will be preaching for the first time at The Place. Randall will continue the series on "Living Dangerously" with a sermon titled "Living In The Spirit" which will go over Romans 7:1-13.
We look forward to having Pastor Steve lead us in praise and worship this week and we welcome Charlie Schaeffer into membership.
We invite you to attend one of our many Sabbath school classes. You may choose from cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, youth, young adult, or adult class...you are sure to be blessed.
We also invite you to our prayer time this Sabbath at 10:00 a.m. Come and pray over our service or be prayed for individually by our prayer team.

Beach Vespers-This Friday/ Come enjoy the afternoon
All are invited to our beach vespers and baptism this Friday evening (July 16th) at 6:00 p.m. We will be meeting at our usual spot, Sycamore Cove. Please come for dinner, worship and the baptism of Charlie Schaeffer. If you can, please bring a dish to share to make sure there is food for everyone. Also, if you would like to enjoy a beautiful afternoon at the beach, please join us at 2 p.m. Come out and escape the heat and share in fellowship.
Women's Lunch & Hike-This Sabbath Afternoon
Join the fun this Sabbath afternoon (July 17) as we take a hike to lovely Paradise Falls in Wildwood Park after our lunch together at Chipotle Mexican Grill starting at approximately 1:30 (located at the village in Newbury Park on Wendy across from Target). The hike is a 3 mile loop with meandering trail to and from the spectacular 70 ft waterfall. The trail is well maintained and it will be a great afternoon of fellowship. ALL ladies are invited!
Directions to Trailhead: From the Moorpark Freeway (23), exit on Avenida de Los Arboles and go west (a right turn if you are coming from Moorpark). Follow de Los Arboles until it ends at Big Sky Drive. Make a U-turn and the park entrance is on the right side of the road. Directions will also be available at church this Sabbath.
Lunch/Water Park THIS Sabbath afternoon:
Since the ladies are going hiking, we invite everyone else to join us for lunch following church THIS Sabbath at the village in Newbury Park (by Baja Fresh right in front of NPAA) and then bring the family along to Oak Canyon Community Park in Oak Park around 3:00 p.m. (take Lindero Canyon north off the 101 to Kanan and turn right; turn left on Holly Tree; first left into the park and 2d entrance once you are in the park will bring you right to the WATER playground.) Sounds great for a hot day.
Community Outreach
Just a reminder about our service project for July. We will go on Sabbath afternoon, July 24th, to visit to University Village Nursing Home. We will be there from 1:45 - 3:30PM and will follow the same program as our previous times there, We will have a musical program and prepare flowers that we can give to residents while visiting with them. We'd love to have some kids who would like to participate in the program by playing an instrument or performing in some way. Please contact Reiner Roeske for more details and sign up at The Place this Sabbath so we know you are participating.
Adventurer Club Organizational Meeting - Sabbath, July 24
Parents, are your children between 5-8 years old? If so, plan to attend the Adventurer Club organizational meeing next Sabbath, July 24, after church. There will be a potluck in the Fellowship Hall. The Club will provide hot dogs and beverages. Please bring a side dish, dessert, and all your questions. We will discuss programs, schedules, uniforms, and more.

Young Families Outing
All families with young children are invited to a morning of fun on July 25th. There will be a young family pool party and brunch from 10-12am! There will be more details next week.
Honduras Mission Trip Meeting -THIS SABBATH
If you are joining us in beautiful Honduras this summer then please make sure you attend the only meeting we'll have; THIS SABBATH at The Place @ 1:30 in the sanctuary with Randall Goulard. It is imperative that you be there so we can do some last minute planning and you can receive some much needed info. Also please bring the balance of $$ for the trip.

We are happy to announce that Jonathan & Mandy Rosaasen had a new baby girl this last Sabbath. Audrey Grace was born on July 10th weighing 5 lb 8 oz. and measuring 18 3/4 in . We can't wait to meet the new princess!
Women's Ministry
We are very happy to announce that our NEW Women's Ministry has begun! We hope that this will enourage ALL women to join us for any and all activities as we grow together in Christ. This is the women's ministry calendar for the month of July:
July 20th: NEXT TUESDAY - BIBLE STUDY @ 7 p.m. @ Debby Moon's home (801 Tioga Place in Newbury Park). Please meet us for tea, snacks, and a night of exploring chapter 2 of Captivating by John & Stasi Eldridge. Please see Cecilia for a book as 20 were ordered. Cost is $13 per book. We will meet bi-monthly on the 2nd & 4th Monday nights of every month except for next week.
July 17th: Women's lunch at Chipotle @ 1:30 (after church services) followed by ahike at Wildwood to Paradise Falls.
Mommy's Ministry
All mommies and children are invited to our next outing:
July 22d: Santa Barbara Zoo, we will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Zoo. Bring lunch so we can picnic together.
July 29th.: Ladies Game Night @ Daisy Carlson's home located at 3862 Coronado Circle, Newbury Park, CA 91320, we will start at 7:30 p.m. Please bring snacks/appetizers/desserts.
Ladies Spa Day
It's back!!! Our once popular and eagerly sought after event of the year for ladies is in the planning stages!! There will be a Ladies Spa Day on Sunday, August 15th and Annette Siver's home. Annette has graciously offered her home so that ladies may lounge by the pool, have some delicious lunch, and have a treatment of their choice. Spa day will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Honduras Orphanage Needs List
Randall Goulard had the opportunity to visit the orphanage in Honduras this week that many volunteers will be visiting in a few weeks as part of The Place mission trip. Some needs that the school/orphanage in Honduras needs are:
1: Baby clothes for toddlers (size 3, 4, 5).
2. Any toiletries that can be used for babies.
3. Toys specific for boys and girls (I.e. matchbox cars or princess type stuff).
4. Bible activity books or materials for the school.
If you should have any of these items, please consider donating them for our mission trip. Bring them to The Place starting THIS Sabbath. THANKS!
Mission Trip Fundraiser
If you've been saving your recycling to help us raise money for the mission trip to Honduras, thank you!
We leave in just one month so PLEASE START bringing your recyclables to church so we can take them off your hands and return for cash!!

Fellowship Luncheon
Our next fellowship luncheon is scheduled for Sabbath, July 31st. This month's theme is "breakfast". We hope that you will join us and bring a tasty breakfast item to share.
Are you part of our worship team?
If you are involved as a singer with our worship teams at The Place please RESERVE MONDAY NIGHT AUG 16 to come and get an in-depth training session on the in-ear monitors as well as some instruction on how to make the most of the vocal talents God has given you. The in-ear monitors are great for singers and will work wonders if used correctly. Exact time to follow but please set aside MONDAY NIGHT AUG 16. Thanks!
VBS-This Summer @ CAES
We will have Vacation Bible School this summer at Conejo Adventist Elementary School the week of July 26-30th. VBS will go from 6-8 p.m. We hope that you will bring your little ones and enjoy the fun! There will be a sign-up sheet at The Place this Sabbath.
Pizza With Bullets Premiere
One of our members, Jeff Cordone, has produced a film "Pizza With Bullets." We would love to have many of you join us at the world premiere! The fim's premiere will take place at the Action on Film International Film Festival on Saturday evening, July 24th at 8 p.m. in Pasadena. For tickets, visit aoffest.com

July 18-24 - Week of community ACTION
THIS Sunday, July 18 - Car wash from 1-3pm @ Dr. Glen Fung's office parking lot (2860 Camino Dos Rios Newbury Park, CA). We will raise money for needy families.
Wednesday - we will be going door to door from 7-9pm passing out invitations to church and/or Bible studies
Next Sabbath - we will be participating in the church nursing home outreach after church
July 24 - we will be holding a pizza feed/pool party (details next week)
Aug 5 - Hillsong tickets are SOLD OUT. so sorry :(
Aug 6-8 - we currently have space for about 5 more youth on our annual Lake Nacimiento Wakeboard Trip. make sure to reserve your spot today ($50 per/person)
July 30: Friday Night - JADEN LAVIK IN CONCERT @ THE PLACE, 7pm! Tickets are $5 at the door. Sign up this Sabbath to reserve your place. This is an amazing concert at an amazing price! This event is being organized and run by the youth of the place. To hear Jaden's music please visit...www.fishers.com/jadon what a great opportunity to invite your friends and neighbors and reach out to the community. Please let Pastor Steve know if you're available to help with this in some capacity (ticket sales, door security, seating, backstage details, setup, teardown, audio assistance, etc).

Fridays from 1-3 p.m. we are playing tennis @ Borchard Park in Newbury Park. This is a PERFECT opportunity for you to invite a friend who is not connected to the church. If you are interested but have transportation issues, please let Pastor Steve know.

NEW STUDY in SABBATH SCHOOL
We're starting a new study in the book of LUKE...come find out all the things you thought you already new about the gospel. We're meeting in a new spot, the Mother's Room in the other wing of the church. Just ask the greeters and they'll tell you where to go....10:30 am!! This week we'll be looking at Luke Ch. 2.
STILL SOME SPOTS LEFT FOR CAMPING IN YOSEMITE
Sign Up At The Place for our young adult camping trip to Yosemite the third weekend in September. We can do whatever we want...hike up to half dome, Yosemite or Vernal Falls and have all around good times. SIGN UP at The Place, we're asking for a committment of $20 to pay for the campsites/food/etc.
SAT AFTERNOON @ THE GETTY VILLA
We've done the Getty now it's time for it's predecessor, come with us Sat. afternoon Aug. 21 to the ORIGINAL Getty Villa in Malibu. We'll leave right after church.
VOLLEYBALL
Next volleyball night is Sat. night August 14. This is the best way to have some fun and meet new people. ANYONE CAN PLAY, don't feel like you're not qualified, we take all kinds! 7:30 pm at the Newbury Park Academy Gym.
MORE VOLLEYBALL!
If you like volleyball then come play EVERY TUES NIGHT. We'll be there from 5:30 - 8:00 pm so when you get off work come get some exercise. (Borchard Road, Newbury Park). There's been a good group of people every week @ Dos Vientos Community Park so come play.
