Mission Trip To Portugal
A group of volunteers lead by Randall Goulard will be heading out next Wednesday, September 7th for Portugal. The group's mission is a Maranatha project to build a health clinic, "Vita Salu" outside of Lisbon. Please join us as we have special prayer over them this Sabbath.
Church Picnic - Sunday, Sept. 11
Our annual church picnic is just around the corner! Join us for an afternoon of fun for the entire family on Sunday, September 11th starting at noon at Borchard Park (190 Reino Road - between Newbury Park H.S. and the tennis courts). There will be a barbeque lunch, games, and a jumper for the kids. If you are willing and able to bring food (it would be greatly appreciated), please sign up at church. This picnic is for EVERYONE, so please invite a friend. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and connect with others ar The Place.
Guy's night out - next Wednesday
All guys are invited to our guys night out next Wednesday, Sept. 7th at 6:30 p.m. at Sunil Ilapogu's house, 1451 Menta Lane, Camarillo. Come out and enjoy some basketball, dinner and fellowship.
New Kids Club
There will be a new kids club, "Grace Club", starting this Sabbath after church services. All children are invited to meet outside after church for prayer followed by games like freeze tag, hide and seek, etc. Any questions? Please ask Liam Liversidge.
Adventurers Club - starting Sept. 24th
We invite all children between the ages of 5-9 years, to sign up and join us for the 2nd year of our Adventurer Club. Angelo Baher is our leader and will have a schedule of activities within the next couple of weeks. The club has regular meetings; works on honors; has discipleship; and an overall good time together. There will be a parents meeting on Sept. 10th and the first adventurers club meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sabbath, September 24th. Please contact Angelo for more details at 805-428-4170. New Collegiate class/Vespers
A new Collegiate class has begun...and continues weekly on Sabbaths at 10:30 a.m. in the back of the sanctuary. The class is hosted by Andrew & Natasha Geigle (Pastor John & Melissa Lubke will also be involved.) Join us on Facebook @ "The Place Collegiates" page for all the information. If you would like to be involved in our collegiate ministry (for those approx. 18-25) check it out this Sabbath or contact Natasha @ 503-679-9603.
The collegiates have their first Friday night Vespers at John/Melissa Lubke's house on Friday, Sept. 9th.
Prayer Ministry
We invite all those involved in prayer ministry and anyone who would LIKE to be involved in our prayer ministry to meet with our prayer ministry leader Suzanne Aiken after church on Sabbath, Sept. 17th. If you would like more info, please contact Suzanne @ 707-489-8327.

Youth Sunday Soccer - starting Sept. 18th
The Place is starting a youth soccer league for kids aged 3-11. All games will take place on Sundays mornings for 10 weeks, starting September 18th. All games will take place on the CAES field and will begin at 10 a.m. We will have sign up sheets at The Place and you will need to pre-register for insurance purposes. We will have soccer coaches and training prior to each game. In Spring we will be advertising to our community to join. But, feel free to INVITE your friends and neighbors. For information or to register, call Jason Mosley @ 310-824-3816. Cost is $25 if pre-register or $30 if register on 9/18, this includes uniforms, equipment, and basic insurance. Kids will need their own cleats and shin guards.
Samaritan Center THIS Sabbath
We'll be heading back to the Samaritan Center in Simi Valley to put on a breakfast for the homeless community (280 Royal Ave. Simi Valley) We have had some great times and interactions with the folks there and look forward to going back...THIS SABBATH Sept. 3 early in the morning (6:30 am). Let Randall know if you'd like to come (707) 227-9845. We're also collecting clothes to take with us so bring any to church you'd like to donate; they particularly need men's clothing.
Beach Vespers/Baptism
We will have our next beach vespers on Friday, September 16th. All are invited to come out for an evening of fellowship, hot dog dinner, and worship and a baptism. Please bring an accompaniment for hot dogs (salad, side dish, chips, dessert). We look forward to seeing you at 5:30 at Sycamore Cove.
5K for Charity-Get Out & Move - SIGN UP NOW!
The Place is organizing a 5K Run/Walk to raise awareness of childhood obesity and inform parents, children and families to help reverse these trends. We are also raising funds for Hacienda Oaks Estates, an organization in Simi Valley that will teach functional life skills to adults with Autism and other related developmental disabilities and neurological disorders. Worthy Student Financial Aid
We invite members whose children are attending a local SDA elementary or academy to apply for financial assistance from our worthy student fund for the upcoming school year. If you can help by donating to our worthy student fund we also invite your support as part of your giving to The Place. We will have applications at church this Sabbath. The deadline for application is Sept. 15th.
Christmas Shoppe - willing to serve on the committee?
Christmas Shoppe this year will be Dec 10 and the planning process is now underway. As Frank and Joyce Thomsen cannot be involved this year, we are looking to find out if anyone at The Place is interested on being on the planning committee and take a leadership role this year. In order to have members from our church be able to attend the pre-shoppe on Friday night, someone from The Place must serve on the committee. It is a big time committment...but a very worthwhile cause!! If you are interested, please contact Pastor Simon asap.
LA KINGS HOCKEY
Once again we have 40 group tickets for the Kings v. Blackhawks game on Saturday night, November 26th. If you sign up NOW for that game, you will receive FREE tickets to the LA Kings v. Mighty Ducks game on Sunday, September 25th! So, sign up this Sabbath!
Can you help with a ride?
One of our members Kayla Legare will be starting graduate work at Cal Lutheran (TO campus) this week. She needs some help getting to and from school for a couple months (not permanently). If you are going from Simi to TO or vice versa at the following times and would be willing to help it would be a lifesaver... Monday- arriving in TO by 4:00PM, leaving TO to Simi at 6:50PM Tuesday-4:00 PM to 6:50PM Wednesday-4:00PM to 9:50PM. The times can be early by one hour arriving in TO or getting picked up a half hour late from TO back to Simi ...she is certainly willing to reimburse for gas and travel both ways. Adventure Group/Small Group Orientation - Oct. 29th
