This Week at The Place
We
look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath at The Place. This
Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue his focus on the Year of the Family
by preaching a sermon on Luke 11:28-54 titled "God's Word without
limits". Pastor John and the collegiate band will lead worship and there
will be a sign up station for new adventure and small groups. We also
invite you to get your picture taken in the lobby for our new church
directory!
We
invite you to Sabbath school starting at 10:30 a.m. We have many
classes ranging from cradle roll class to adult classes...and a new
collegiate class! We have something for everyone! We hope you’ll stop by
and be blessed.
Our
prayer ministry meets every Sabbath morning at 10:00 a.m. to pray for
the various ministries taking place that morning. If you are interested
and can make it to the meeting, please join us; or you can pray for us
from wherever you may be at 10:00 a.m. We love and appreciate any and
all prayers.
And, your tithes and offerings are always a blessing. We thank you for your faithfulness in giving. You can return your tithes and offerings at The Place or by clicking on the link below.

Monday morning at Calvary Community "Parenting 24/7" which is based on
the book, Shepherding a Child's Heart. This will be a wonderfully
insightful night where parents will be inspired to raise their children
based on biblical principles. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in
the sanctuary. Men and women are welcome to attend. There will be
child care provided and the cafe will be open afterward for a time of

Memorial Fund for Adam David Appel
As many of you know by now, little Adam
Appel passed away last month at six months of age due to a seizure as a
result of malaria. Many of you have expressed profound sadness and have
asked if you could help in any way. We have established a memorial
fund that will be dedicated to help build the hospital in Mondou, Tchad,
where James, Sarah and Miriam are at the present time. Go to http://www.gofundme.com/adam-appel. You can always support their mission by giving at www.theplacechurch.com and marking your donations for the Bere Mission. Thanks so much for your continued love, prayers and support for this family.

for the academic award desired by many, but achieved by few. The other
participants attend Crescenta Valley Adventist Elementary and San
Fernando Adventist Elementary -- worthy opponents indeed. The tournament
begins at 6:00p.m. on February 4th and will be held at the Living
Stones Church in the Fellowship Hall, 6235 Honolulu Avenue, La
Crescenta. Light refreshments will be served, so bring lots of
enthusiasm and a slight appetite.

to communicate with family while serving in the military. They have
provided more than 114 million minutes of free talk time to service men

cell phones are used to purchase pre-paid international calling cards.
To help, you can donate your used cell phones, chargers and

this Sabbath through February 18.

Happy New Year - get involved
At
The Place, we would like to designate 2012 as the year of the FAMILY.
This does NOT mean you will be left out if you are single! What it does
mean is that in 2012 we will be focusing on our spiritual growth of
knowing what it means to be a child of God and part of the family of
God. We will also be growing in hearing the voice of God our Father as
he speaks to us.
As part of our focus, we are inviting
EACH family (or individual if you are single) to participate during the
worship service during 2012. Specifically, we invite you to share a
(not too long) testimony about how God has moved in your life. You may
also share special music, drama, reading, poem or any other form of
worship you would like. As a first step to making this happen,weI invite
you to respond to Pastor Simon directly by choosing a week you are
interested in doing this! If we don't hear from you, we will be
contacting you throughout the year to invite you to
participate. We are excited to hear your stories and experience your
worship!

YOUNG ADULT SUPER BOWL PARTY
Join us to see the Green Bay Packers (or I guess it could
be another team :) beat everyone else in the Superbowl! Join us at Randy
Aybar's house on Sunday Feb. 5 at 2 pm...we'll eat...a lot and have a
couple games to play based on the game AND commercials. Bring food, wear
your gear and come cheer.
DO YOU WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN THE NEW YEAR!!??
As we start the new year we'll be looking for young adults
that want to use their spiritual gifts for ministry. Looking for people
to host social events, to lead service and outreach activities and to be
praying for our young adults. There is always an opportunity to be
involved so please pray and think about how God is leading you to bless
others. Let Randall know if you have a burden to serve in a particular
way.
