This Week at The Place
We look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath at The Place. This Sabbath Elder Rob Randall will be be preaching at The Place. We look forward to having Pastor John and the collegiate band lead us in praise and worship.
We also invite you to Sabbath school starting at 10:30 a.m. We have several classes ranging from cradle roll class to adult classes...and a new collegiate class! We have something for everyone! We hope you’ll stop by and be blessed.
Our prayer committee meets every Sabbath morning starting at 10:00 a.m. to pray for individual as well as community needs. If you are interested, please join us this Sabbath.

Youth Soccer - This Sunday
The Place has started a youth soccer league for kids aged 3-11. All games will take place on Sunday mornings for 8 more weeks. We have had two games thus far and a great time. Games will take place on the NPAA field and will begin at 10 a.m.(please note the change in venue). There are soccer coaches and training prior to each game. However, we need more coaches and would appreciate having a few more volunteers. In Spring we will be advertising to the community so others may join. But, feel free to INVITE your friends and neighbors. For information or to register, call Jason Mosley @ 310-824-3816. The cost is $30. The cost includes uniforms, equipment, and basic insurance. Kids will need their own cleats and shin guards.
Pray for Pastor Simon in Finland
Pastor Simon will return next Monday from Finland where he has been for the last week preaching for an Evangelism series and young adult camp-meeting. The meetings have been a blessed time. We invite you to continue to pray specifically for protection for Simon and for the church in Oulu, Finland that is hosting the evangelism that the Holy Spirit will reign and lives will be changed. Social Next Sabbath
Our next social is scheduled for next Sabbath afternoon, October 8th. We will meet at Sunil and Natalie Ilaogu's home in Camarillo (1451 Menta Lane) for an afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship with the family. Please bring your swimsuits as well as something that goes with haystacks, the Ilapogu's will provide the beans.
Juniors & Junior High-Next meets This Sabbath
Please sign up and come to NEXT, our small group discipleship program just for junior highers who want to take the NEXT step in their walk with Jesus. Our first meeting will take place THIS coming Sabbath morning at 9:30. All meetings will occur just once a month (only 5 times) on Sabbath mornings at 9:30am, students will enjoy discussing and learning what it means to "Hear God's Call."
Prayer Ministry
Our prayer ministry would like to pray for you! Do you have a request or praise that you would like to share with the team? Women's Ministry Monday Night Meetings: Receiving, Seeking, Gifting God's Love-beginning next Monday
Looking for leaders and helpers for our first Monday Night Meeting that will be held on Monday, October 3 from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. in The Place main sanctuary! Ladies of any and all ages, you are invited to use your skills and talents and time to help make our first night of worship and fellowship a memorable evening of receiving, seeking, and gifting God's love! No prior experience necessary: Song leaders - ladies who love to sing praises and prayers to God! Sound techies - ladies who want to share their knowledge or learn how to run a soundboard and setup basic sound equipment for 1 or 2 microphones. Small group or adventure group leaders- ladies if you are currently leading and/or want to start up a women's small or adventure group, please plan on coming and sharing your awesome ideas and thoughts. Ladies of any and all ages - you are invited to come just as you are and bring your sisters, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and best friends on Monday, October 3 from 6:30 - 7:30 for worship and fellowship at The Place main sanctuary. L.A. Kings Game
Once again we have 40 group tickets for the Kings v. Blackhawks game on Saturday night, November 26th. Tickets are $29 per person. If you would like to go to the game, please sign up this Sabbath.
Adventure Group/Small Group Orientation - Oct. 29th
On Sabbath afternoon October 29th we will have an adventure group/small group orientation for all those who are interested in finding out more information about how to lead an 'adventure' group or small group. Save the date.
Interested in baptismal studies or learning how to lead people in Bible study?
In a few weeks Pastor Simon will begin a new class on Sabbath mornings at 10:30 a.m. The class will focus on those who would like to study towards baptism or have questions about what the Bible teaches. He will also be teaching people how to lead Bible studies. If you would are interested or have any questions, please contact Pastor Simon.
Coming Up...
Please mark your calendars for some of the events that will be taking place in the next few weeks:
Our Bowling Social will take place on Saturday night, October 15th. We will head over to Harley's Simi Bowl for a night of fellowship and bowling fun. More details to come.
Also, we will begin our Friday night Film Vespers on October 21st. Our Friday Night Film Vespers will continue through the Fall/Winter months at The Place.
And, of course, our annual Fall/Harvest Fest happening on Saturday night, November 5th. This year we will celebrate with a big 60's party at the NPAA cafeteria. There will be food, fun, and awesome music by our very own Place band.

The annual Yosemite trip is THIS WEEKEND, Sept. 30-Oct. 2!! Randall is leading the young adults as they leave for a weekend of adventure in nature.

We'll be meeting for Sabbath School this week at 10:30 am in the bookstore at the back of the church. Soroosh will be leading our study this week in Luke...come out and join us, expand your mind!!
TUESDAY AND FRIDAY YOUNG ADULT SMALL GROUPS!!
Come be connected with each other through one of our young adult small groups. We have two going right now, one that meets on Fridays and one on Tuesdays.
Friday night is hosted by Brent and Simone Buttler (909) 528-3883, and meets at 7 pm in Simi Valley and the other meets every Tuesday at the Starbucks on Moorpark Rd. @ Thousand Oaks Blvd. Contact Randall Goulard if you'd like to be a part of this one (707) 227-9845. SABBATH SERVICE AND GAME NIGHT ON OCT. 15
It's been a while since we've gone to the Westlake Healthcare Center and probably even longer since we've had a game night so let's do both! Saturday afternoon Oct. 15 after church we'll go visit the folks that don't get a lot of visitors to show them the love and then we'll hang afterwards on Saturday night for some games...location TBD but MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
VB TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER
The girl's volleyball team at NPAA is hosting a volleyball tournament fundraiser the afternoon/evening of Oct. 8. YOUNG ADULT PRAYER TEAM
We would like to start a prayer team so we can be deliberately praying for the young adults in our church and WILL BE STARTING IT UP in just a couple weeks. This requires a commitment of only 1 hour every OTHER week. That's only 2 hours a month but it can be powerful! Please let us know if you would like to be a part of this ministry right away!

5K This Sunday
The Place is organizing and participating in a 5K Run/Walk to raise awareness of childhood obesity and inform parents, children and families to help reverse these trends. We are also raising funds for Hacienda Oaks Estates, an organization in Simi Valley that will teach functional life skills to adults with Autism and other related developmental disabilities and neurological disorders. Join us for the Adventists In Step for Life "Let's Move!" event THIS Sunday, September 25, 2011. Register on-line at www.theplacechurch.com/5k

Adventurer Club-starts this Sabbath
We invite all children between the ages of 5-9 years, to sign up and join us for the 2nd year of our Adventurer Club! Angelo Baher is our leader and will begin club meetings this Sabbath, September 24th with registration as well as honors work in First Aid. The club has regular meetings; works on honors; has discipleship; and an overall good time together. Please contact Angelo for more details at 805-428-4170. Financial Update-August
We received $12,300 in giving towards the local church budget items - for a total of $122,200 for 2011. We have spent $119,000 during 2011 so far so we are about even with our church budget. Our expenses have gone up in August so we continue to need your financial support and blessing on The Place. We also received $12,433 in tithe in August for a total of $115,862 for 2011 which goes to the Southern California Conference of SDA. Thank you for your support.

). We are filling up but still have a few spots left. The cost is $25/person which includes the campsites (tent-camping in the valley) for Fri and Sat. night and three meals (two breakfasts and one dinner). We will split into groups on Sabbath to allow people to have their own Yosemite experience. Arrive when you can Friday night and leave when you want Sunday morning.

PAINTBALLING THIS SUNDAY
